The Human Sciences Sector of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) is hosting the masterclass "Languages: Brazil, Brazilians, Brazilian, Portuguese," delivered by Caetano Galindo. The event will take place on March 24, at the Teatro da Reitoria, at 7 p.m.
The class is open to the public and is described by the Sector as "a unique opportunity to understand a bit more about who we are through the words we use."
Caetano Galindo
Galindo is a professor in the Department of Literature and Linguistics at UFPR and is considered one of the foremost contemporary thinkers on the identity of the Portuguese language. He is one of Brazil's leading translators, recognized for translating major publications such as Ulysses, the complete poetic works of T.S. Eliot, and the novels of J.D. Salinger.
As an author, he published the essay collections Sim, eu digo sim, Latim em pó and Na ponta da língua, all published by Companhia das Letras. His work Latim em pó was chosen by Revista Quatro Cinco Um as the best non-fiction book of 2025.
