The Humanities Sector of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) is hosting the masterclass "Languages: Brazil, Brazilians, Brazilian, Portuguese", taught by Caetano Galindo. The event takes place on March 24, at the Teatro da Reitoria, at 19:00.

The class is open to the public and is described by the Sector as "a unique opportunity to understand a little more about who we are through the words we use."

Caetano Galindo

Galindo is a professor in the Department of Literature and Linguistics at UFPR and is considered one of the leading contemporary thinkers on the identity of the Portuguese language. He is one of Brazil's foremost translators, recognized for translating major publications such as Ulysses, the complete poetic works of T.S. Eliot and the novels of J.D. Salinger.

As an author, he published the essay collections Sim, eu digo sim, Latim em pó and Na ponta da língua, all published by Companhia das Letras. His work Latim em pó, was chosen by Quatro Cinco Um magazine as the best nonfiction book of 2025.
