O vereador Renato Freitas (PT) entregou nesta quinta-feira (17) o documento com sua defesa prévia sobre o caso da entrada de manifestantes na Igreja do Rosário durante um protesto antirracista em Curitiba.
A defesa já está no Conselho de Ética, mas a responsável não estava na Câmara, por isso não foi possível acessar o teor do documento.
A entrega aconteceu durante um ato contra os despejos durante a pandemia, iniciado em frente à Câmara. Renato falou por mais de dez minutos e disse que a Justiça prevalecerá.
Freitas foi alvo de cinco representações parlamentares e todas elas pedem a cassação do mandato por quebra de decoro parlamentar. Com a entrega da defesa a comissão vai analisar se dá seguimento no trâmite e leva o caso ao plenário ou se arquiva a investigação.
Em entrevista ao Plural, Freitas disse que o documento se concentra nas três principais acusações que ele enfrenta: ter invadido a igreja.
“Isso é uma mentira, a Igreja estava aberta. Não houve nenhuma ordem para que não entrássemos e uma vez que entramos não houve nenhuma ordem para que saíssemos. Então em hipótese alguma houve invasão.”
O segundo ponto rebate a acusação de que manifestantes entraram durante uma missa e o terceiro de que houve maus-tratos aos fiéis. “As imagens da própria Igreja demonstram que a missa já havia terminado e depois nós entramos, de forma ordeira, pacífica e não mexemos em nada. A minha conduta é justificada pela verdade do acontecido e a gente espera que a verdade prevaleça.”
Nos bastidores da Câmara Municipal conversas apontam que se o processo for ao plenário a cassação do petista é quase inevitável. No entanto, ele diz que não sente medo de perder o mandato.
“Não há o que temer e nem o que se lamentar. Antes de mim outros vieram. Durante o momento que faço essa luta, outros também fazem e depois de mim outros virão. O injusto prevalece (…) portanto sabemos que estamos na mira dos poderosos, mas a gente tem fé em Deus, fé na luta e a gente vai passar por isso.”
O parlamentar é um dos poucos homens negros a ocupar cadeira na Câmara Municipal e considera que há uma perseguição ao seu mandato. “A gente para eles só serve se tiver atrás de um balcão, servindo (…) eu ousei ser o que eu sou.”
Petistas que acompanharam o ato disseram que há possibilidade de o mandato de Freitas ser mantido e apesar do cenário nebuloso, Freitas pretende se manter no meio político. “Eu penso para o futuro [que devo] ampliar minha voz, minha possibilidade de ação, para que, de algum modo unir, mobilizar um maior número de pessoas por justiça, moradia e equilíbrio social. E provavelmente a gente vai se candidatar a deputado estadual.”
Por maioria simples o caso pode ser submetido ao plenário e por maioria absoluta dos parlamentares a punição proposta pode ser efetivada.

The Councilman Renato Freitas (PT) delivered on Thursday (17) the document with his previous defense on the case of the entry of protesters in the Rosário Church during an anti-racist protest in Curitiba.

The second point rebuts the accusation that protesters entered during a mass and the third that there was mistreatment of the faithful. “The images of the Church itself show that the mass had already finished and then we entered, in an orderly, peaceful way and we didn’t move anything. My conduct is justified by the truth of what happened and we hope that the truth will prevail.”
In the backstage of the City Council conversations indicate that if the process goes to the plenary the cassation of the petista is almost inevitable. However, he says he is not afraid of losing his mandate.
“There is nothing to fear and nothing to regret. Before me others came. During the moment I make this fight, others also make it and after me others will come. The unjust prevails (…) so we know that we are in the sights of the powerful, but we have faith in God, faith in the fight and we will get through this.”
The parliamentarian is one of the few black men to occupy a seat in the City Council and considers that there is a persecution of his mandate. “For them, we are only useful if we are behind a counter, serving (…) I dared to be what I am.
